The original Culpitt business was based in London and made artificial flowers. We opened our Ashington factory in the 1940s. Over the years we have made many types of cake decoration including metalised plastics, artificial flowers and wafer roses. After the acquisition by DecoPac, we decided to specialise in producing printed Edible Decorations, Cake Boards and Cake Cards.
We pioneered printing edible inks on sugar sheets in the 1990s and have since refined the process to enable 4 colour process printing and, more recently, printing with natural colours.
In 2003 we developed a process for 4 colour process printing on our 3-D Edible decorations, SweetMelts ™.
